6 Weeks

I know that most people post a 1 month post, but I'm two weeks late.

Daniel Alan is now 6 weeks old and doing great! There is no evidence of pyloric stenosis like we feared there would be. Yay! At first he wasn't a good eater and had trouble latching, so we took him to the doctor and we found out his tongue was a little tight, so we got it clipped. Since then, he hasn't had any trouble latching and he is a growing boy! He is now 11.5 pounds! He has gained 3.5 pounds since his birth. I love a fat baby!

Daniel is a super smiley boy! I love it! Nicole never really was very smiley as a baby and I am thoroughly enjoying the baby smiles.
Daniel sleeps in 2 to 3 hour intervals during the night, so Matt and I are still very tired, but it is all worth it for our little man.
I go back to work in a week, so I am savoring my time with my little baby and little girl.

Kangaroo Zoo... Again

Last week we took Nicole to Kangaroo Zoo again. We keep getting the coupons in the mail, so we continue to go. Pretty sneaky Kangaroo Zoo.

Since I am currently on "maternity leave" from work, she and Damon came with us. This is the only chance that Marie and I have to be stay at home mommies together and we have to take advantage.

Since Nicole is just two and we had a coupon, we got in for just over three dollars. What a deal! Plus, adults who are just observing get in for free. So, we were three adults, two babies and just one kid who was there to play.
Damon did a little bouncing with Marie's supervision, but his play time was not extensive. Mostly, he was content to crawl around and attack Marie.
Daniel slept the whole time which made it easy for Matt and I to focus on Nicole. The transition to having a baby in the house has been rough on Nicole. She doesn't get nearly as much attention as she did before the baby was here, so we try to plan a "Nicole activity" to do almost once a week. We want her to feel special like she is still getting Mom and Dad time.

Nicole went down the slides for about an hour before she started to get tired and didn't want to climb up the ladders anymore. She decided to go on one of the big slides near the end and she got to the top of the ladder and sat down to go down the slide and then she fell backward down the ladder side. It is a giant blow up, so she landed on the bouncy thing, but it scared her pretty bad and she was done playing after that.

Despite the drama at the end, we had a lot of fun. We will definitely return.

A Really Late Easter Post

Despite my blogging absence, we did celebrate Easter this year. I am just super lazy and haven't posted about it in a regular amount of time.

We stayed low key this year and just had Easter at home. We were invited to celebrations at Momma Kimball's and my parent's house, but we declined because Daniel was just two weeks old. Or maybe he was one week. It is all fuzzy.
Momma Kimball stopped by early in the morning to drop off a basket for Nicole full of little fun things like bunny ears and a pink, play cell phone. She loved it of course!
Then, we had a little egg hunt around the house and Nicole took that very seriously. Most kids get really excited about egg hunts and smile and squeal while searching for eggs; not Nicole. Nicole took the egg hunt very seriously. She grabbed her basket and searched for eggs with a very serious face because she HAD to find them all. It was her job.
She looked super cute in her Easter dress that Momma Kimball gave to her. Nicole loves a tutu.
She wasn't quite tall enough to reach this egg on the handle.

Daniel looked super cute in his little Easter outfit. I dressed him up even though I did not take him to church.
I wanted pictures of the kids together on Easter, but Nicole isn't quite old enough to hold Daniel yet. These are the best shots that I could get.

We had a good, low key Easter. It was just nice to relax and be together as a family.

Working From Home

It has been just shy of 3 weeks since I had my baby and I am now working from home. I do not wish to work from home, or to work at all during this recovery time. Unfortunately, I got pregnant right when I was starting a new job and I haven't worked for the company for 12 months, so I don't qualify for FMLA.

Instead, I made deal with my boss that I would work from home part time if they would hold my job for me. It sucks, but I need this job to support the family while Matt is in school, so I am doing what I must.

My choice would be to be a Mommy and stay home with my babies. No work. Sigh. Someday.
