The Hunger Games

I just finished my second reading of the Hunger Games trilogy. I decided to read them all again because Sarah was reading them, DJ had the books for me to borrow, and they recently cast the movie that is being made of these books.
Hunger Games is the story of 16 year old Katniss in a future world. The government has control of the 12 districts in the country and to show their power, every year, they select one boy and one girl to compete in the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a futuristic Gladiator, fight to the death sort of competition. The story follows Katniss in her journey through the hunger games.

I like these books because they are very creative. The futuristic technology that the author comes up with is so interesting. I could not create the crazy stuff that she invents. The book moves really fast and is intriguing through the end. Also, there is a love triangle, and who doesn't love a good love triangle?

The only part of this book that I do not like is the main character Katniss. She is often emotionless and really hard to relate to. But, like Twilight, I can forgive that the main girl is a dud and enjoy the story for what it is.

The two other books in this series, Catching Fire and Mocking Jay follow Katniss after the Hunger Games (sorry to spoil it, but there are two other books, so she obviously survives the first one). The last two books are about Katniss's fight against the corrupt government. These books are intriguing and are a good read, but the first one in my favorite.

I would definitely recommend these books, they get 4.5 stars from me. I especially think that Marie should read them... if only I could convince her somehow....

Marie should read them. She read Twilight and these are way better. They were better the second time around.

If the main character is emotionless then maybe I will read them. Maybe.
